As her name continued to trend on social media, with assumptions swirling about her being the now infamous "Becky" who Beyoncé referenced in Lemonade, Rachel Roy took to Twitter in an apparent response to rumors and accusations she had an affair with Jay Z.

Here's what the fashion designer said.

Roy, who is the ex-wife of Jay Z's former business partner, Damon Dash, became the topic du jour after she posted a photo that lent itself to stirring rumors.

The post was either a sneaky hint that gave Roy away or a mere coincidence, depending on who you'd ask. Regardless, Roy was instantly hammered online after her Twitter post.

People were just not having it.

Needless to say, Roy's still "Becky" to some people.

And the strangest part in all this? Because of the way "Becky" is commonly used in music, Beyoncé's use of the term initially seemed like a clear reference to a white woman.

Roy, on the other hand, is very clearly a woman of color.

Still, any sort of response that came short of a vehement denial was always likely to draw critics, which is exactly what happened.
