Here's How Much Selena Gomez Has Changed Over The Past 23 Years
by Katie Corvino
It looks like Selena Gomez is having quite the year. She just released her new album Revival and will be performing at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in December.
Yeah, she's kicking ass.
It's crazy to think how far she's come in just 23 years. Let's look back at some of her greatest moments to really see how much she's changed throughout her life.
Selena was born on July 22, 1992. She didn't look like this when she was born, but this is a cute pic so let's start here.
Selena got her start when she was just a little kid. She began acting alongside Demi Lovato on "Barney and Friends." Aren't they just the cutest?
Acting on Barney led her to audition for Disney Channel when she was 11 years old. What an actress, what a star.
In 2003, Selena made her first cameo appearance in "Spy Kids 3: Game Over" and totally crushed it. Look at her little hat.
She began to take on other roles, like when she was in "Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire"(2005) with Mitchel Musso.
In 2006, Selena began to appear in minor roles on Disney. She was in an episode of the "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" and then the following year, she made three appearances on "Hannah Montana."
Her acting career took a turn in 2007 when she landed the lead role in Disney's "Wizards of Waverly Place" as Alex Russo. She even recorded the show's theme song, "Everything Is Not What It Seems."
She starred in her first music video covering "Cruella De Vil" for the "Disneymania 6" album. She began to establish herself as not only an actress but a singer as well. Look at her hat again.
That same year, she starred in the musical movie "Another Cinderella Story" and it was THE BOMB. Seriously, rewatch this sh*t.
In June 2009, Selena reunited with Demi Lovato and the pair starred in "Princess Protection Program." Man, those were the days.
You may remember Selena and Demi used to be BFF. When they were younger, they would make YouTube videos together and battle Miley Cyrus' "Miley and Mandy Show" YouTube Channel. Things got HEATED.
In 2009, Selena also started a punk band, Selena Gomez And The Scene, through a deal with Hollywood Records. Its second single, "Naturally," was a hit. Throwback to when she was super edgy.
Selena was also part of the Sears' back-to-school fashion campaign and would star in all of their commercials. Get it, girl.
In 2010, she appeared in the movie "Ramona and Beezus," which was a film adaption of the children's novel series by Beverly Cleary.
That same year, her Dream Out Loud fashion line launched. Check out that teenage style.
Selena soon began to date Justin Bieber, and the world was changed forever. Here's a video of Justin singing "One Less Lonely Girl" to her. It's super intimate.
The two eventually broke up, and Selena released an emotional music video for "The Heart Wants What It Wants" that is rumored to be about her troubled relationship with Justin.
Selena took a big jump when she starred in "Spring Breakers." This was her first role for a mature audience and she definitely seemed much more grown up in the film.
Selena's biggest hit at this time was her solo album's single, "Come & Get It," which was released in 2013. It's like, pretty hot.
This year, Selena released another single, "Good For You," featuring rapper A$AP Rocky. It reached no. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became her highest charting single to date. It's like, also pretty hot.
Earlier this year, she apparently had a "thing" with DJ Zedd. They collaborated on the song "I Want You To Know," but the fling ended long ago.
Her second studio album is called Revival and was released this past October. She's also going to be the executive producer for the upcoming film "Thirteen Reasons Why." What I'm trying to say is: Selena's a queen.
Here is Selena today. As you can see, she's really grown up over the years and has come a long way. KEEP SHINING, SELENA.
And always remember where you came from. God bless.
