Three months after Taylor Swift teased “Carolina” in March, the star finally dropped the song (which will be featured in the upcoming film Where The Crawdads Sing) on Friday, June 24. Swifties can’t get over the new track, and here’s what they had to say about it.

In true Swift fashion, the singer announced the release of “Carolina” just hours before dropping it. As you can imagine, Swifties were so excited to finally hear the song after months of teasers.

Fans actually theorized Swift would announce the release date for “Carolina” soon after the official Where The Crawdads Sing Instagram account teased something exciting would arrive June 24.

They were over the moon after realizing their theory turned out to be true.

Fans also celebrated the mysteriousness of the song.

“Carolina” definitely gives off folklore and evermore vibes due to its nature-inspired lyrics. Some fans even wondered whether the song could be part of a folklore trilogy series.

“Carolina” is the perfect theme song for Where The Crawdads Sing, which is about a girl named Kya who grows up alone in the marshes of North Carolina. The film is based on the 2018 novel of the same name.

“Carolina” arrives just days after The Summer I Turned Pretty premiered on Prime Video on June 17. The series, which was also based on a novel, features a number of Swift songs on its soundtrack, like “Cruel Summer,” “Lover,” and “This Love (Taylor’s Version).”

Swifties have truly been fed with so much new music this year.
