Is A 'Teen Wolf' Spinoff In The Works? Here's What We Know

OK, Teen Wolf fans, now that the MTV series is officially over (*queue soft sobs*), it's time to move on and find a new show to obsess over. I know... after six long seasons of living in a teenage werewolf fantasy, it will be hard to find something as dramatic and thrilling to watch; on the bright side, though, there might be a Teen Wolf spinoff in the works, so you might not have to look too far for your next favorite TV show.

That's right, after Sunday's emotional Teen Wolf finale episode, recent comments from the show's star, Tyler Posey, are more exciting than ever. Indeed, Posey who played the show's protagonist, Scott McCall, recently spoke with TheWrap about the show's ending, and what (if anything) fans can expect to see from the show in the future. When asked about the possibility of a Teen Wolf reboot, the star told TheWrap he would "absolutely" be open to reprising his role as Scott. He continued by saying,

I've always thought that the show was going to go on forever. I know that Teen Wolf is going to come back one day. I don't know when or how, but I'd love to be a part of it. I grew attached to the show, and it became a part of me.

Obviously Posey is a major part of the show, and we wish it would go on forever, so if there is a spinoff in the works, his return would be expected and amazing. The actor understands the show's "legacy" as he put it, though, so he is happy to turn the role over to another actor if need be. He said,

If it comes back, I'm more than happy to be a part of it. And if not, if they don't want me to be a part of it, I'm more than happy to pass the torch to somebody else and let Teen Wolf live in another name. I think we built a great little legacy, and I don't think the world's ready to see it end yet. Just a little break.

That doesn't mean we wouldn't expect at least a cameo, though. Of course, since there are no concrete plans in place for a reboot of the MTV hit just yet, the cast had a hard time saying goodbye to the show as they were filming its final episodes. Posey revealed to TheWrap that there were moments where he gave heartfelt speeches to his cast mates during the final days of shooting. He said,

There were a couple times when there were these impromptu speeches during one of our lunches leading up to the last few days. I got really emotional — I didn't break down or anything, but I was choking back tears.

The actor also talked about another time that it was harder for him to hold back his tears as he and the core cast mates filmed one of their final scenes together. He said,

It was perfect, and it was raining. We were in L.A., and we had a skyline behind us, just really beautiful. And I got a little choked up then, too, but no one knew. I kept that one to myself.

After six years of working together, who can blame him for getting a little choked up? As for his thoughts on the way the series ended, Posey had only encouraging things to say about the farewell episode, and some stuff to keep fans of the show on the lookout for a spinoff in the future. He told TheWrap,

It really sets a new tone for the show. It matures the show a lot and kind of opens up the door for a new setting for Teen Wolf and Beacon Hills in the future, if MTV wants to come back to the show. So I'm really excited about that.

Hopefully MTV will take Tyler up on his offer to be a part of a Teen Wolf spinoff sooner rather than later. New setting or not, I'm already vying for a reboot as soon as possible.
