After sweeping the 2020 Grammys, Billie Eilish returned with a vengeance in 2022. Her second studio album Happier Than Ever and its buzzy title track earned her seven nominations, and her 2022 performance reinforced her status as a darling of the Grammys.

Eilish’s Grammys performance came one week after she won her first Oscar, nabbing Best Original Song for her No Time To Die track. She also performed the haunting ballad on the Oscars stage, but she sang a different hit at the Grammys.

While Eilish’s performance of “Happier Than Ever” at the Grammys stood out on its own for being an excellent rendition of the song, it was the interesting set design that really had viewers talking.

The upside-down living room setting drew immediate comparisons to the cover art for Harry Styles’ upcoming album Harry’s House. Last month, Styles unveiled the art where he looks pensive in a — you guessed it— upside-down room.

With Styles’ dramatic new artwork top of mind, music fans quickly picked up on the similarities with Eilish’s Grammys stage.

The apparent crossover launched so many conspiracy theories.

Some fans thought the allusion was teasing a potential collaboration between the two superstars.

Even though Styles said Harry’s House will have no collaborations, fans are holding out hope Eilish’s moment means he lied.

Some viewers were even starting to expect Styles to make a surprise appearance during Eilish’s performance.

The one major different between the two rooms was that Eilish’s stage had water on the floor, which is likely a reference to the “Happier Than Ever” music video that features a flooded house.

So of course, fans were quick to start making jokes.

Realistically, Eilish’s set likely wasn’t a nod to Styles, but I’m not losing out on hope so soon.
