Winona Ryder’s Expressions During ‘Stranger Things’ Win Were Everything
by Eitan Levine
TBS
There are very few "Stranger Things" than whatever Winona was doing with her face during last night's SAG Awards.
Netflix's '80s-centric sci-fi hit "Stranger Things" took top honors at last night's acting union honors.
David Harbour, who plays Chief Hopper, and his fellow cast members hit the stage like a Demogorgon on speed after it was announced they won the award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series and it led to one of the most powerful moments of the night.
Harbour's speech was a clear highlight of the show.
During his speech, Harbour powerfully told the audience,
This award from you, who take your craft seriously and earnestly believe, like me, that great acting can change the world is a call to arms from our fellow craftsmen and women to go deeper and, through our art, to battle against fear, self-centeredness and exclusivity of our predominantly narcissistic culture. And through our craft, cultivate a more empathetic and understanding society by revealing intimate truths that serve as a forceful reminder to folks that when they feel broken and afraid and tired, they are not alone.
Clearly, that was one hell of speech, and if you have any doubts, you should just watch Winona Ryder's face as it was happening.
Prepare to go on the roller coaster RYDE(r) that was Winona's face during the speech.
"Yeah! You know what? Yeah! That IS a great message! Chief Hopper is killing it up there!"
"Oh Christ, is this TOO good? Is this the best speech ever given? Please don't pass the mic to me. I... I can't go on after David Harbour unites all of freaking Hollywood against our president."
"Yesssss, they're playing music. Phewwwww! Dodged another bullet on this image rehab journey, Winona! Back to 'Mr. Deeds' level fame!"
Winona, never change, you beautiful unicorn.
