The Met Gala’s theme is often offbeat, like “Camp” or “Heavenly Bodies.” But in place of a hyper-specific vibe, this year’s theme was a person: Karl Lagerfeld. To honor the late designer, celebs served demure sophistication.

Here are the best looks from the 2023 Met Gala:

Doja Cat went all out for her first Met Gala, dressing as Lagerfeld’s legendary cat, Choupette, in Oscar de la Renta.

A fire Lil Nas X ‘fit isn’t ever shocking, but his Met Gala look still managed to draw some gasps. Dressed in a head-to-toe silver glitter look by Dior Men, he was basically a human disco ball.

If you had a friend text you on Monday evening with the dreaded question, “Should I get bangs?” It’s likely due to the blunt fringe Emily Ratajkowski was rocking along with her drop-waist tulle Tory Burch gown.

Halle Bailey came to slay with all the intricate details in a dramatic white Gucci gown and ruffled cape.

Is that Blair Waldorf? No. Wednesday Addams? Well, kinda. Jenna Ortega strutted the red carpet in a punk-meets-prep look by Thom Browne.

It’s giving regal. Florence Pugh debuted a chic buzz cut topped by a statement-making headpiece, paired with a sweet cutout Valentino gown.

Mrs. Affleck! Jennifer Lopez hit the carpet in a cutout Ralph Lauren gown, giving a pop of baby pink to a carpet full of mostly black-and-white looks.

The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey showed *up* for her first Met Gala in a glam Thom Browne suit, slicked-back hair, and a minimal makeup look.

Cardi B had not one, but two Met Gala looks this year. And while her first one, a pink showgirl number, was fun, it was her business-up-top-party-on-the-bottom ‘fit by Chenpeng Studio — topped with Lagerfeld-esque silver hair — that truly served.

The Year Of Slay continues for Anne Hathaway as she stunned in a white Atelier Versace number paired with a glam, voluminous hairstyle.

As one of of this year’s Met Gala co-chairs, Michaela Coel had a duty to slay — and that she did, in a brown, bedazzled custom Schiaparelli gown.

In formal shorts and a bright-red overcoat, Pedro Pascal arrived at the Met Gala with his Internet Daddy status fully intact.

As per usual, Billie Eilish brought moody glam energy in this head-to-toe black ensemble by Simone Rocha.

Elle Fanning served edgy bridal realness in a lace Vivienne Westwood gown topped with a black bolero and floral details. Beyond being a stunning ‘fit, her look was similar to a photoshoot Fanning did with Lagerfeld when she was 13 — a touching tribute to the man of the evening.

Rihanna and A$AP may have arrived late (and kept those following on Twitter up past their bedtime), but they definitely *arrived* to the Met. RiRi wore a white Valentino gown, along with a jaw-dropping hooded coat covered in roses. To complete the look? Sunglasses with eyelashes, ofc.
