Chappell Roan's Grammys Dress Has A Surprising Beyoncé Connection
Oh, she’s BeyHive for sure!
Chappell Roan proved she’s not just the ultimate fashion girlie, but also a huge Beyoncé fan with her 2025 Grammys gown. The “Pink Pony Club” singer showed up at the Feb. 2 ceremony in a show-stopping fluffy yellow gown filled with tulle and artistic embellishments. And she’s not the first superstar to rock the unique look. 22 years ago, Beyoncé wore the same dress when she was establishing herself as a solo artist.
Roan’s gown is a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier piece, which has a history of adorning music sensations. Beyoncé first wore the same dress in the April 2003 issue of Elle. At the time, Beyoncé was just about to reintroduce herself to the world as a solo artist, departing from her group Destiny’s Child to drop her debut solo album Dangerously in Love the summer of 2003. It feels fitting that Roan would select this particular piece, as she’s also introducing herself to the world at her first Grammys ceremony with a Best New Artist nomination.
Although Beyoncé wasn’t present for the red carpet, she did finally arrive about an hour into the Grammys ceremony, just in time to accept her Best Country Album win for her genre-busting 2024 release Cowboy Carter. In a bit of cosmic coincidence, Bey took the stage shortly after Roan performed her own country-tinged pop hit “Pink Pony Club” complete with a whole rodeo setup.
Though Roan and Beyoncé haven’t had any public interactions yet, it’s clear they are fans of one another. Back in September, Bey told GQ that she’s keeping her eye on Roan, calling the singer “talented and interesting.”
Could Beyoncé’s horse Reneigh saddle up at Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” for a future collab someday? Here’s hoping Roan’s sartorial shoutout managed to catch Bey’s eye.
