7 Delicious Signs You Might Be Totally Obsessed With Cheese

Today is National Cheese Lover’s Day.

It isn’t exactly a paid holiday (though some of us enthusiasts may argue it should be).

If you’re cheese obsessed, then today is your day to go out and paint the town with Cheese Whiz: metaphorically, of course. There’s never any good reason to waste that much delicious, cheesy goodness.

While you decide how you’re going to celebrate this yummy holiday, check out some ways to tell if you’re maybe just a little extreme in your love for this fine dairy product:

1. While cooking, you always add more cheese than necessary.

Does your recipe call for half a cup of shredded cheese? Double that bad boy.

There’s no such thing as too much cheese. More cheese will just make the dish even tastier.

2. You base your restaurant choices on the number of cheesy options.

Even though your friend wants Asian food, you would much rather go to your favorite Mexican joint because of the cheese factor.

I mean, there is nothing better than dipping your chips in cheese sauce, ordering cheese enchiladas and requesting extra melted cheese on your refried beans.

You may have to load up on fiber beforehand to avoid missing a bowel movement for a week, but it’s totally worth it.

3. The refrigerator is always stocked with different types of cheese.

You have to have your basics: American slices for your burgers or grilled cheese sandwiches, gouda and feta for those fancier times and shredded cheese of all different varieties.

You’ve got mozzarella for pizzas, sharp cheddar for macaroni and cheese and that tasty Monterey Jack mix that's just bangin’ in burritos.

You even sometimes keep a stock of string cheese and mini Babybel wheels for those emergency situations when you just need a cheese fix.

4. Your love of cheese has become a running joke among your friends and family.

You love cheese so much, everyone knows it. It’s become your “thing.”

One friend might be the cat lover. Another might be the environmentally conscious recycler.

You, on the other hand, are the cheese lover.

You’re the friend who will let the Olive Garden server keep loading up that salad with cheese until you can’t even see the lettuce anymore.

At some point in your life, you’ve probably been given a gift that makes fun of your cheese addiction.

It would not be out of the ordinary for you to receive any of the following: a t-shirt with a slice of pizza on it, taco earrings or a cheese-patterned throw blanket.

Your status as a cheese lover is a badge you wear proudly (and is possibly a literal badge someone gave you in jest), but that doesn’t mean your friends aren’t going to give you sh*t about it on a regular basis.

5. Pizza is basically a major food group for you.

Your food pyramid has grown an extra appendage.

Although you recognize the importance of fruits, vegetables, meat and healthy grains, you also know pizza is an important part of your diet.

You never turn down an opportunity to go out for pizza. You wouldn’t even mind going to the worst pizza place in town because even the worst pizza is still pizza.

Your only condition is they load it up with extra, extra cheese.

6. You could never be a vegan.

Pretty much everyone has considered the idea of veganism at some point, but not everyone is willing to part with his or her favorite foods.

You’re pretty sure you could give up meat, but giving up dairy is a line you just can’t cross.

Never eating a quesadilla again is just too sad of a thought to entertain on any kind of serious level.

Let’s be real: Vegan cheese just isn’t the same.

7. This post has made you crave something cheesy.

Right now, your mouth is watering so hard by just imagining some of the dishes mentioned here.

You’re contemplating whether or not to get off your ass and make yourself something to quash your desires.

If you could relate to more than a couple of these points, you’re probably obsessed with cheese.

There’s nothing wrong with a cheese addiction, as long as you don’t let it control your life.

Today, however, we all have a good excuse to go out and gorge ourselves on all things cheesy.

It is a nationally recognized day, after all.
