There Are 4 Types Of Psychic Gifts, And Here's How To Recognize Yours
Everyone is a little bit psychic, but most of us just tend to pass off our psychic gifts as "coincidental" or "weird."
Many people believe being psychic means you wake up one day with a mind-blowing superpower.
But having psychic abilities doesn't mean you're immediately endowed with an uncanny ability to see the future.
So, we should view these psychic gifts as skills that take practice, just like playing piano.
Though we may not all have highly developed psychic abilities, every one of us possesses intuition and a sixth sense. By looking at these two qualities, we can get clues and signs as to where our psychic abilities lie.
You can also take various quizzes to see which gifts you're most associated with.
There are a four types of psychic abilities that regular, everyday people have, but they each receive information in different ways.
The way in which you receive information is how your psychic gift is categorized, and the signs are pretty obvious:
Clairvoyance or "clear seeing"
Clairvoyance is defined as the ability to "see" the future.
It's the most misunderstood of all psychic abilities because people assume that being clairvoyant means you'll see an entire scene or movie play out in your head.
In truth, clairvoyants get information in a much more subtle way.
Signs you might be clairvoyant include seeing bright, colorful patterns when you close your eyes or seeing shadows that seem like they're floating in the air.
As a clairvoyant, visualization is your strong suit.
As a child, you may have had imaginary friends with rich histories behind them, and now you may have a powerfully vivid dream life.
Clairvoyants are gifted with an ability to see how things all fit together without following instructions, so they're great at putting together IKEA furniture.
They have a good sense of direction, like a human GPS.
Clairaudience or "clear hearing"
Clairaudience is the ability to hear words, voices, songs and sounds that come from spirits, guides or the beyond.
The voices that one hears as a clairaudient are often your own voice in your head, but the messages seem to come from somewhere else.
For instance, you may get the "Happy Birthday" song in your head, then find out it's your co-worker's birthday today, and everyone's getting cake.
Clairaudience may be your psychic gift if you are an auditory learner, are musically inclined, get a ringing in your ears for no medical reason or spend a lot of time in your own head thinking.
You may also feel like you can hear animals. It's not like they're talking to you, but you may get messages from them that again seem to come from nowhere.
For instance, you might be petting your dog and suddenly hear a banging sound of garbage bin falling to the floor. When you check downstairs, you find out your dog knocked the metal garbage can over and went rifling through the trash earlier that day.
Clairsentience or "clear feeling"
Clairsentience is known as the most down-to-earth of all the psychic gifts, and it is also known for being the most common.
You can receive psychic messages about people through your emotions, intuition or physical sensations.
If you're clairsentient, you get messages in the form of a "gut feeling" about something or someone.
You can often feel people's emotions whether they are with you or far away.
If you close your eyes and tune in to the people you are closest to, you can sense if they are at home, or if they're out being social. Sometimes, you may even be able to sense exactly what they're doing.
When clairsentient people walk into a room, they can sense immediately if the energy in it feels light or heavy.
They may get chills or goosebumps after getting a hug from someone whose energy they don't like.
If a friend gets into a relationship with a new person, a clairsentient person is able to tell just from looking at a photo of their new SO how that relationship might pan out, and they'll know what to watch out for.
Claircognizance or "clear knowing"
Claircognizance is the ability to know something on a deep, inner level without any logic or facts to support it.
Intuitive thoughts may pop into your head at random times in the form of intuitive direction.
You may often say you "just know" something without having or needing any way to support your argument. You "just know" that person everyone loves at work simply can't be trusted.
While driving on the highway, you may tell everyone to "buckle up," and then a few moments later, the car comes within an inch of getting into an accident.
You don't know how or why you know something; you "just know it." The more you're able to trust this inner knowing, the deeper you'll strengthen your claircognizant ability.
