7-Eleven Just Delivered A Slurpee Via Drone And The Future Looks So Bright
Imagine chilling at home, wishing you had an ice-cold Slurpee, and then BAM, one just drops out of the sky? Look, a girl can dream.
But, we're actually not so far away from that reality. In fact, for the very first time in Reno, Nevada, a whole bunch of 7-Eleven goodies including a Slurpee was delivered to a family via drone.
This is the future of food delivery, people. And 7-Eleven low-key got it done before Amazon, which was granted permission to start testing drones for delivery this year.
This 7-Eleven in Reno teamed up with a privately owned startup called Flirtey to make this magical delivery happen. Flirtey builds its own unmanned drones and creates special packaging for deliveries to keep items secure.
What exactly did this lucky family in Reno get delivered to them by a drone? Slurpees, a chicken sandwich, doughnuts, hot coffee and candy.
I'm sad I didn't get an invite to this 7-Eleven drone party, honestly.
For 7-Eleven, this will be the first of many drone deliveries, as it plans on offering this service at many more locations in the future.
Drone delivery will probably become increasingly popular for other companies in varying industries as well because it helps people get what they need quickly if they can't leave their homes.
This service could also be so useful in the case of an emergency, even a Slurpee emergency.
