The latest developments in the Stanford rape case are just as sickening as the story itself.

Unfortunately, at this point, it seems almost par for the course Brock Turner would lie to the court in order to try and save his own skin. We are talking about a 20-year-old man who reportedly was found assaulting an unconscious woman.

However, the alleged fact that Judge Aaron Persky knew Turner was lying through his teeth before he handed down his ridiculously lenient sentence is downright disturbing.

According to reports, Brock Turner's six-month sentence has already been shortened by three months, despite the fact he lied to the court. Turner was also sentenced to three years probation following his release from jail.

Friends of Turner have reportedly expressed their support for the former Stanford swimmer by writing character defense letters to Judge Persky, a fact that may have had an influence on Turner's sentence.

Turner's father wrote a letter citing the rape as "20 minutes of action."

The way rape is treated in this country is a problem that could take years to fix. Brock Turner's lies and Judge Persky's apparent ability to look the other way are further evidence of that.

According to reports, Judge Persky has yet to comment on claims he knew Turner was lying at the time of sentencing.
