Khloé Kardashian Making Medical Decisions For Estranged Husband Lamar Odom

As former NBA player Lamar Odom, 35, remains in a coma at a Nevada hospital where doctors discovered cocaine and herbal Viagra in his system, estranged wife Khloé Kardashian, 31, sits at his bedside.

Although they filed for divorce in December 2013, Kardashian and Odom are still legally married, PEOPLE reports.

The divorce papers were finalized in July 2015, four months after a judge threatened to dismiss the case as a result of Odom's refusal to sign. Now, almost two full years since the petition was filed, the divorce may not be finalized for another two months due to a backlog in Los Angeles courts.

In other words, Khloé is in charge of making Lamar's medical decisions, a duty that leaves her now in the middle of a life-or-death matter.

The couple separated after Odom's drug relapse put a strain on their marriage; however, Khloé has been vocal when discussing her lasting relationship with Odom, stating,

I love Lamar to death. He is the love of my life. We had a fantastic marriage. Do I wish he had tried harder? Yes. Do I think that he maybe didn't have the energy to fight because he was fighting so many other things? Yeah.

It's evident Odom has been fighting his demons for years, but that hasn't dissuaded Kardashian from supporting the man she refers to as "the love of [her] life."

Multiple sources report Odom has suffered severe brain damage, and the Kardashian family, including a "completely inconsolable" Khloé, are preparing themselves to say goodbye.
