In case you didn't know, the 2016 presidential election is upon us. (Kudos to you if you've somehow managed to miss all the commotion.)
Each election cycle brings an avalanche of analysis and freaking out about the future, and the endless political chatter can make you want to delete your Facebook. There are those special moments, however, when listening to people talk about issues they're passionate about is actually interesting.
They say you should never talk about religion or politics with your SO — or anyone, really — so naturally, we asked couples to come in and do just that.
Since we thought it'd be more fun if we upped the awkward factor, we invited couples who identified with opposing political parties and asked them to discuss the issues at play in this year's general election.
They discussed a wide range of issues including marijuana legalization, gun control, healthcare, immigration rights, income and tax laws and women's rights.
How'd it all play out? Well, a funny thing happened: It quickly became apparent that many couples didn't exactly know where their SOs stood on the political spectrum.
Sometimes you can't identify Trump supporters until they start talking. And this can apply to the person you think you know best in this world.
We've all heard the saying, "You don't really know someone until you live with them." I would like to make an official change to that saying. "You don't really know someone until you talk politics with them" seems much more fitting.
For some, differences in political ideologies can make or break a relationship. To others, ignorance is bliss, so they just don't talk about it.
What about you? Would you ever let your political views get in the way of your relationship?
Check out the video above for an intimate looks at these couples' true political beliefs.
