8 Channing Tatum Quotes About Jenna Dewan Tatum That'll Make Your Heart Swoon
Ah, Hollywood. Home to the prenup agreement and the annulment. Though it seems like all of our favorite celeb couples are consciously uncoupling (still not over it, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris), there are some who are still going strong, like Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum. And if you don't believe me, Channing Tatum's quotes about Jenna Dewan Tatum will restore your faith in humanity, and also make you believe that true love might *actually* exist in Hollywood.
The couple has been married now for nearly a decade (which is like, 750 years in Hollywood), and the two have an adorable daughter, Everly, who you can see every now and then on Channing Tatum's Instagram feed. So basically, they seem like the most perfect couple out there, and the only thing that's missing is a white picket fence (which, let's be honest, they probably have surrounding their perfectly-maintained lawn), so bravo, you two. Round of applause. If it sounds like I'm sounding jealous, it's because I am.
The only thing that can make the pair even more perfect in everyone's eyes? Perhaps they can give the world a second round their epic Lip Sync Battle with Beyoncé? Surely that's not asking too much, right? RIGHT?
But pull up a chair and settle in, because you're about to see some real modern-day romance with these quotes that Channing Tatum had to say about his wife.
1. When he called her a "beautiful soul" before they even got together.
Unless you've been living under a rock all this time, you know that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum met on the set of Step Up in 2006. And, if you saw said movie, you saw the clearly instant fireworks between the on-screen couple. (Also, if you've never seen Step Up, who are you? And how dare you?)
So, when the two actors were promoting the movie at an Italy Press Conference, the chemistry in the room was palpable, even though there was no confirmation yet that the pair were dating at that point in time. But during the interview, when they were both asked to describe the other, Tatum had this to say about Dewan:
Jenna's very, she's obviously beautiful, but she really, really is as beautiful inside as she is out. She's really real, too. She loves to teach people how to not come from a place of insecurity, just, you know, come from a place of love, I guess. She's a big fairy, flower child. [She's] a beautiful soul, a beautiful soul.
Well, that's one way to make an entire room full of Italian reporters blush.
2. When he realized the moment he wanted to be in a relationship with her.
It makes me incredibly happy to know that celebrities deal with similar situations that us average folk often face — like how to act around someone when you both feel chemistry, or how to make space for a new Maserati when your 10-car garage is already full (just me?).
But in all seriousness, in an interview with Elle Magazine, Tatum describes the turning point in their relationship when he realized he needed to tell Dewan his feelings:
I had just gotten out of a pretty long relationship, so I was in no way ready for another. I was trying to run from what I knew Jenna was — not someone I was just going to date. But one of my buddies was like, 'What are you doing, man? She's dope.' That night I showed up at her hotel room with a sombrero on, and that was it.
Some initial thoughts: Why would you ever run from a gorgeous creature like Jenna Dewan? And why is there a sombrero involved in this story?
According to Dewan's interview with Cosmopolitan, she said Tatum showed up at her hotel door and told her, “I couldn’t stop thinking about you. Let’s do this. I just want to be with you.”
A man who confesses his feelings AND who also wears a sombrero? Could their love story seriously be any more relatable?
3. When he said life was "perfect" because of her.
After two years of dating, Tatum did the damn thing and put a ring on it. And in case any of you were wondering why, seriously just look at Jenna Dewan's dance moves.
Sort of self-explanatory, TBH.
In an interview with People Magazine, Tatum said, "I’m as happy as I possibly can be on the planet right now," just a month after he tied the knot. But of course, the sweetness didn't stop there. "We’ve been together, and nothing’s really changed," Tatum said, adding, “It’s pretty much the same as I’ve felt every day since I met her – and that’s just about perfect.”
Don't mind me, just ugly crying in the corner over here.
4. When he credited Dewan for keeping him on the right path.
The thing I love so much about Tatum is how down to earth he is. (I mean, how many other celebrities that you know of personally deliver alcohol to their fans?) But he also proved just how humble he was in a Instagram post he dedicated to his wife:
If it wasn't for her I would have never even found the path much less stayed on it and not flown off in flaming truck of dynamite singing devil went down to Georgia. Hahahaha. To my light. I love you.
Putting my grammatical issues about this post aside, I've honestly never wanted to be a flaming truck of dynamite more than right now.
5. When he called Dewan a "warrior" after giving birth to their daughter.
Females are obviously the superior sex, because, hello, have you ever seen a man giving birth? Exactly. Move along.
But unlike those obnoxious men who say "We're pregnant!', Tatum gives all the props to his wife when it came to giving birth to their daughter, Everly, in an interview he had with Vanity Fair:
We like to think of ourselves as big, strong men, and we could handle whatever situation. And reality is [that women] are so much stronger than we could ever be. There’s a reason why we weren’t given that job, evolutionary or whatever. My wife, she’s a warrior. She did it as natural as you can. [As a man], you’re basically a cheerleader. ‘Come on, baby, you can do it.’ I would’ve tapped out in the first.
A man essentially saluting the entire female race while also praising his wife for basically being a Demigod superhero?
Swoon. Check, please. I think we're done here.
6. When he told the world how his wife slays in the bedroom.
Let's be real here, guys. Everybody wants to know what celebrities' sex lives are like. No judgment! I mean, who wouldn't want to see a shirtless Joe Manganiello walking seductively towards a flawless Sofia Vergara? Sign me up. PRONTO.
So, when Tatum talked about his sex life during a Facebook Live interview with Cosmopolitan, fans became mighty thirsty listening to his response that started off jokingly, but ended with everyone in the audience presumably salivating:
I just lay there. I just lay down, sometimes I nap. She's really athletic. We get down. Me and Jenna have a great sex life.
I can't help but let my mind wander to what being "athletic" in the bedroom means for these two.
7. When he credited Dewan for keeping him "sane."
I can't imagine how chaotic a life as a celebrity can be (I can barely hold my life together and I'm only writing about them), so finding someone that keeps you grounded is probably pretty important. At the screening of Foxcatcher, Channing once again gushed about how incredible Dewan Tatum was with literally everything she does:
She keeps us all sane. Jenna puts everything in perspective for me, always ... I'll find myself spinning out or angry or whatever, or even happy, and she always somehow ends up righting the ship.
Is there seriously anything that this woman can't do? And is there anything that Tatum wouldn't do for her? These two are the epitome of #couplegoals.
8. When he bowed down to his "sexy, funny, flawed" wife.
Look, you can't deny that Tatum and Dewan Tatum are basically aliens from another planet, because they are beautiful and talented and have at least 18 abs, collectively. But when Tatum posted a polaroid picture of Dewan Tatum holding their daughter, Everly, on Instagram, and wrote a gorgeous tribute to her as a mother, I damn near lost my mind:
But she has such deep strength and other worldly grace. Watching her in those first days transform into a mother was life changing. She was every bit the beautiful, sexy, funny, flawed creature I fell in love with. But the prism turned and showed a whole new light that I had no idea existed, the light of a mothers love.
Move over, Shakespeare, because Channing Tatum just won the heart of every woman with those beautiful words.
Let's all just take a minute to applaud Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum for showing us what true love is like, both on-screen and off.
