Taylor Swift's New Song "Dress" Is Apparently So Sexy, Her Mom Had To Leave The Room
Could we be getting some downright sexy songs from Taylor Swift on her new album, Reputation? If you've been hoping for Swift to get a little dirty with her lyrics, your wish just came true. Taylor Swift's "Dress" lyrics are so sexy, according to Secret Session attendees.
How sexy? Let's just say her mom had to leave the room during the listening party when the song "Dress" came on.
Fans at the Secret Sessions could finally spill a little bit of details once Swift officially announced the Reputation tracklist:
- “…Ready For It?”
- “End Game” (feat. Ed Sheeran and Future)
- “I Did Something Bad”
- “Don’t Blame Me”
- “Delicate”
- “Look What You Made Me Do”
- “So It Goes…”
- “Gorgeous”
- “Getaway Car”
- “King Of My Heart”
- “Dancing With Our Hands Tied”
- “Dress”
- “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”
- “Call It What You Want”
- “New Year’s Day”
Naturally, since they're sworn to secrecy, no one at the listening sessions could spill too much info about the songs, but this little tidbit about "Dress" certainly got my attention. It's so racy that her mom was too embarrassed to be in the room? That's so telling, you guys.
One person tweeted: “Apparently Scott and Andrea left the room in the SS when Dress played.... I guess it's a sexy song then. So excited!!”
Another fan shared: "Since Taylor released the tracklist is it ok for me to say that Scott Swift covered his ears during Dress?!?!?" It's apparently not very dad-appropriate.
One fan tweeted: “the fact that taylor has songs about doing 'the dirty' has me TRIPPING. omg i am too excited for this album!!!!!!”
Oh god, dying over this Twitter theory: “plot twist: ed sheeran actually broke his arm listening to dress by taylor swift.”
Just how steamy are the "Dress" lyrics? Check them out for yourself!
Our sacred moments
In a crowded room
They got no idea
About me and you
There is an indentation
In the shape of you
Made your mark on me
A golden tattoo
Wow, it's already getting super intimate. Here's more:
All of this silence and patience
Pining and anticipation
My hands are shaking from
Holding back from you
All of this silence and patience
Pining and desperately waiting
My hands are shaking from all this…
The chorus is where things get really heated. I'd argue these are Swift's most sexual lyrics to date:
Say my name and everything just stops
I don’t want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Take it off
Carve your name into my bedpost
Cause I don’t want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Take it off
Some of the other sexual parts of the song include:
Inescapable, I’m not even gonna try
And if I get burned, at least we were electrified
I’m spilling wine in the bathtub
You kiss my face and we’re both drunk
Everyone thinks that they know us
But they don’t know nothing about
Swift continues:
All of this silence and patience
Pining and anticipation
My hands are shaking from
Holding back from you
All of this silence and patience
Pining and desperately waiting
My hands are shaking from all this…
She then makes it clear that whoever she is singing about is more than a friend:
Say my name and everything just stops
I don’t want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Take it off
Carve your name into my bedpost
Cause I don’t want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Take it off
She even referenced her Met Gala look... you know, when her hair was bleached:
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Flashback when you met me
Your buzzcut and my hair bleached
Even in my worst times
You could see the best of me
Then the song concludes with this:
Flashback to my mistakes
My rebounds, my earthquakes
Even in my worst lies
You saw the truth in me
And I woke up just in time
Now I wake up by your side
My one and only, my lifeline
And I woke up just in time
Now I wake up by your side
My hands shake, I can’t explain this
Say my name and everything just stops
I don’t want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Take it off
Carve your name into my bedpost
Cause I don’t want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Take it off
There is an indentation
In the shape of you
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
You put your mark on me
Golden tattoo
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
If you haven't heard it yet, I think this sums up what you can expect: “guys dress will leave all of you so shook. i will never get over that song, taylor really did THAT.”
And if you need some confirmation of bop factor, Reputation is gonna be an all out bop fest: “THEY ARE ALL BOPS. END GAME IS A BOP. DRESS IS A BOP. DANCING WITH OUR HANDS TIEDIS A COMPLETE BOP.”
Reputation is out Nov. 10, so be sure to listen ASAP.
