Wear These 10 Halloween Costumes In Your Dating App Profile If You Want To Get More Matches
When it comes to Halloween costumes, everyone has their own category they generally fall into. Some people go for the ~sexier~ Halloween costumes, like that naughty school girl or the foxy Cleopatra. Some people go for the more ~timely~ topical costumes, like Hillary Clinton and Harambe. Finally, some people (AKA me) go for the more hilarious route with classic favorites, like a Sumo wrestler, a giant boob, and a full-body chicken suit outfit. (Yes, I have personally worn every one of those costumes throughout my life). Well, if you need some ideas for this year, a new study by Hinge found out what Halloween costumes on dating apps are not just getting people the most attention, but also providing people with the best conversation starters.
In fact, Halloween time is a pretty big time for people to be setting up dates on their dating apps. Hinge actually just declared Friday, Oct. 27 (the official first day of Hallo-weekend this year) their BIGGEST day in the fall for people to set up a date with someone on a dating app. How do you just declare something like that? Well, they found that it was the most popular day in the fall for people to be exchanging their numbers... also known as the first step before securing a date.
All right, so if you're logging on to a dating app on Oct. 27, your chance of snagging a date is already pretty high, but how do you guarantee the most likes and solid conversations? Well, Hinge suggests trying out one of their 10 "Hinge Approved" Halloween costumes, so when the person you're talking to asks what you're dressing as tomorrow, you've got a pretty awesome idea to hit 'em with.
What makes a Halloween costume "Hinge Approved," you ask? Well, for starters, it has to have racked up more than 100 likes on people's profiles. Second, it has to have started a lot of conversations. And finally, it has to guarantee you a lot of attention when you go out on Halloween. And who doesn't love some good, old-fashioned attention?
Without further ado, here are the top 10 "Hinge Approved" Halloween costumes to try out this year.
1. '70s Basketball Player
One Hinge user offered their experience with the costume: "I’ll never recover from the short shorts wedgie, but I looked good in a ‘fro."
2. Penguin
As if just dressing in a penguin costume wasn't epic enough, a Hinge user added, “My friends and I were penguins and choreographed a happy feet dance."
3. Alice in Wonderland
Use this Hinge user's success story as the ultimate inspiration to go with your Alice in Wonderland costume idea: “I won a costume contest and was flown out to the Playboy mansion’s Halloween party — I guess it was a win!”
4. Fierce Cat
This girl's fierce cat costume was more of a social commentary than anything else: “I dressed up as a fierce cat and carried around a vintage phone, all while meowing at cute boys at a party — raising social awareness, one pun at a time.”
5. Lightning Man
Not satisfied with any of the superhero costumes at your disposal? Take matters into your own hands and create your own, like this Hinge user did: “I was a superhero of my own invention with a gold lightning bolt on a black ninja suit worn by my chubby 7-year-old.”
6. Jennifer Lopez
But you can't be just any J.Lo. You have to be the sexiest J.Lo there ever was. One user reminisced, “My best costume was definitely J.Lo during her P Diddy era."
7. Khaleesi
For all you GoT fans out there, one user remembers, “My all-time favorite was Khaleesi from GoT or Snookie Stackhouse from True Blood."
8. Harley Quinn
If you're daring enough to go against Margot Robbie, Harley Quinn is a great idea. “I’m proud to say I was Harley Quinn before Margot Robbie did it!” said another Hinge member.
9. Troll Doll
Bring your favorite childhood toy to life with this costume, like one person did: “I rocked the nude body suit, dyed pink hair… great look!”
10. Inflatable Cheeseburger
This one's my personal favorite option of the bunch. A Hinge user explained, “I was an inflatable cheeseburger one year — got the costume from a PBK so it was a win in all areas… so I thought."
Consider yourselves INSPIRED to not only score a few new dates this Hallo-weekend, but to also win pretty much every costume contest you enter.
