Monica (She/her/hers) works as the Federal Policy Manager at URGE: Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity. She is a proud southerner and queer intersectional Black feminist. She received her Bachelor's in Criminal Justice from The University of Alabama and her Juris Doctor from The University of Alabama School of Law. Monica is a long-time outspoken activist having been a part of the URGE chapter at UA as well as a member of UA’s Women and Gender Resource Center’s student leadership council in college. She continued organizing and activism in law school. During her 2L year she worked in her law school's Domestic Violence legal clinic, and was Summer Student Legal Counsel at Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. Monica was also a part of UA Law’s Black Law Student’s Association (BLSA), OutLaw Queer-Straight Alliance and La Raza. A lover of reproductive justice, her passions include activism around issues of intimate partner violence, racial justice, abortion access, and combating anti-blackness. In her spare time Monica enjoys re-watching Scandal, salsa and bachata dancing, and music.
