Glitter Butts Are The Hottest New Trend On Instagram To Make Your Booty Sparkle
Glitter has a powerful way of making just about anything look prettier than it actually is.
We've thrown that ish on our lips, our boyfriends' hairy beards and even our nipples.
So, why not slap some onto our butts as well?
This latest glitter trend is the handiwork of The Gypsy Shrine, a glitter shop in the UK dedicated to making your whole body sparkly AF.
The idea was originally inspired by makeup artist Mia Kennington, who thought of it after she experienced that all-too-familiar feeling of sitting on the beach, standing up and finding your booty covered in sand.
She told Cosmopolitan,
It was a hectic day because we were glittering up everybody and also had to get content for our website. So [artist Sophia Moreno and I] just had to spark off ideas in a span of, like, 20 minutes. We were in bikinis and were getting sand all over our butts anyway, so we were like, 'Well, what if we enhance this?' So we just did loads and loads of glitter.
Sand on your butt is obviously pretty unpleasant. But glitter? That's just a whole other level of fabulous.
The trend comes just in time for festival season.
But to properly show it off, you definitely need to be wearing short shorts.
And you can't have any shame in your booty game.
You know, as much as I don't want to like this trend...
... I can't deny how pretty it is.
It's not very often you can look at a butt and say, "Wow, that's beautiful."
But like, damn.
However, I do have one very crucial question about this trend: How the hell do you apply this yourself? Or do you absolutely need a friend to help you out?
Gypsy Shrine recommends starting with a layer of hair gel before packing on the glitter, as this should keep your sparkles fully intact.
If you're feeling ambitious, you can add on some body paint and self-adhesive gems.
When you're all done, a quick spritz of hairspray – or even makeup setting spray – will give the look extra hold.
Because, you know, putting hairspray on your butt won't feel weird at all.
