This Genius iOS 10 Hack Lets You Change The Way You Unlock Your iPhone
The Apple iOS 10 update is changing our lives for the better, one iPhone at a time.
I mean, come on: Did you ever think we'd live in a world where we could ask Siri to take a selfie of us, or bypass texting completely by replacing words with doodles?
I sure didn't. But right now, I couldn't be happier.
Still, everything can't be perfect. There's still one change in the update that's really killin' my buzz: the new way we need to unlock our phones.
Call me lazy. Hell, even call me "unworthy" of the iOS 10.
But I HATE needing to physically push the home button to unlock my screen. My thumb power is precious, Apple. Don't you understand?
Fear not though, my friends. If you're suffering through the new change as much as I am, please be aware that there's an answer to our first world problem.
It's hiding in our phone settings.
The steps are simple, and completely life-changing. (You can thank me later.)
Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button
Once you reach the "Home Button" screen after following the steps above, simply turn on the "Rest Finger to Open" option.
Then, voila! You are literally home free.
Before you get too excited, know that these steps don't apply to all Apple users.
If you're lucky enough to own an iPhone 7, you can disregard them because your home button is a little too advanced for us old-timers. In fact, your home button is the reason we've been suffering through this change... because of its updated sensitivity to touch.
According to PC Mag, Apple described iPhone 7's home button as "advanced," saying,
The Home button on your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus is an advanced solid-state button that Apple designed to be durable, responsive and pressure sensitive. Working with the new Taptic Engine, the Home button gives you haptic feedback when you press it.
Apparently, if you own an iPhone 7, you can adjust your button preferences by going to Settings > General > Home Button.
Either way, we're stoked about this hack, and will never have to use our thumbs to unlock our phones ever again.
PRAISE.
