One English woman's run-in with a man who made derogatory racial comments to her and the crowd of people who quickly defended her will remind you as much hate as there is in this world, there will always be a healthy dose of good people out there to try and stop it.
Ruhi Rahman, 23, said she was taking a train recently when a man aggressively confronted her, making Islamophobic and threatening comments to her and her sister.
Before she could talk back, though, a lady Ruhi did not know stood up to defend the women.
Then the entire train got together to stand against the man, eventually forcing him to depart the train altogether.
Ruhi told her story in a Facebook post that amassed almost 600 shares.
Can't believe what happened in the metro today. I was with my sister on the metro when this guy approached us and... Posted by Ruhi Rahman on Saturday, November 21, 2015
In an interview with the Chronicle, Ruhi called the people of the train her "angels" and said,
I have never felt more proud of being a Geordie. It was lovely that everyone came together to help us and I can't thank them all enough. It made me feel really optimistic and hopeful.
Northumbria Police said they are still investigating the incident.
