UFC Ring Girls Are Getting Paid More Than The Women Actually Fighting

Dana White's done a great job making the UFC the product it is today, but there are still some things completely out of his control.

The failed drug tests of some of his marquee fighters are a few of those things, but the low pay to his athletes, namely in the female division, isn't one of them.

Ronda Rousey is the Women's Bantamweight Champion and pretty much the toughest chick in the world.

While she's fine with her UFC salary, she can't exactly say the same about some of her fellow fighters who don't make nearly as much as the ring girls sitting octagon-side.

In a press conference at UFC 184, Ronda said,

I think that they should get paid more than the ring girls. And I don't know if the ring girls get paid too much or the fighters don't get paid enough. But yeah. There's definitely a lot more in what the fighters do than what they do. So, I think that's one thing that's unfair.

According to MMA Mania, this lack of pay is an issue with many fighters and the current lawsuit against the UFC by former fighters Cung Le, Jon Fitch and Nate Quarry proves it.

While it's unclear exactly how much veteran ring girls Arianny Celeste and Brittney Palmer make, Ronda is pretty adamant they are cashing out more than the prized athletes themselves.

Ronda has a long history of beef with one ring girl, in particular, who has been the target of many insults from the champ herself.

Arianny Celeste spoke to MMAjunkie radio and basically called Rousey a big bully. She said,

I’m not going to talk about her because I’m not a fighter. I’m not going to waste my time. I actually don’t talk about anyone. It blows my mind that someone who doesn’t even know me continuously picks on me. And that’s all I see her as: a big bully.

Of course, Ronda had a valid response in an interview with Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting. She told him,

What did I say that was a bully? That the fighters should get paid more than the ring girls? How does that make me a bully? That makes me f*cking right. I’m sorry, but she wouldn’t have a job if it wasn’t for the fighters. She wouldn’t. You think her walking in circles around the two guys or two girls out there fighting for their lives is worth more? Think she works harder than they do?
