Once upon a time, celebrities wore entire denim fits, impossibly low-rise jeans, and the tiniest micro minis you’ve ever seen. That time was Y2K, the early aughts, the ‘00s, and now, those trends are making a comeback.

Are y’all familiar with Xtina’s “Dirrty” era? Moxie Raia’s stylist must be because this ‘fit was a combo of so many Y2K trends worn by Xtina and Britney Spears. It’s a full denim look that’s low-rise, low cut, *and* shows off Raia’s entire torso.

Skin exposure and styling aside, the baggy boyfriend jeans and oversized fur were giving Gwen Stefani circa No Doubt (plus a dash of present-day Julia Fox). Bottom line: It gave me flashbacks to 2002 and I’m not mad about it.

In the ‘00s, everything was low-rise and all pants buttoned below your hip bones. Halsey served a jaw-dropping low-rise moment on the iHeartRadio red carpet with a side of Lil’ Kim at the VMAs in ‘99.

Halsey’s look was pure Y2K iconic energy from every angle. The mega-flare on the pant section of their catsuit? Totally ‘00s. The suggestion of a thong without an actual thong present? Very ‘00s. The whole vibe? A modern take on J.Lo’s iconic Versace ensemble.

Y2K fashion was very loud on purpose. Designer labels, typography-heavy prints, and bright neon colors were mixed together in order to make the biggest statement possible. Jessie Murph obviously got the memo.

Pop art was another major part of Y2K fashion and Murph’s stacked heel boots are a great reference to a time when brightly colored doodles — remember Von Dutch? — were all over everything.

*Everything* was embellished in the “more is more” early aughts and Dove Cameron’s heavily jeweled and decorated jacket fit perfectly into the Y2K fashion trend box.

Cameron’s accessorized her plunging jacket with a pair of very Y2K over-the-knee boots. The whole look truly served major ‘00s vibes from top to bottom.

Heidi Klum has been a supermodel for basically her whole life so she knows a thing or two about the rise and fall of fashion trends. She served up a Y2K fashion staple: the micro mini dress.

It’s not just the cut of Klum’s dress that reads Y2K. The megawatt, high-shine texture of the skirt and the sequin sparkle of the top were both trademarks from an era of fashion excess.

Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album has been heralded as a throwback to earlier times and her ‘fit also had some big #TBT energy. The micro mini dress paired with tights and sky-high platforms was a starlet staple on early aughts red carpets.

It’s not just the hem of Rodrigo’s Versace mini dress that reads so very Y2K. The early ‘00s fell right between the rise and fall of bodycon dresses, and the suggestion of corsetting on the top of Rodrigo’s purple mini defines that aesthetic so well.
