The way I screamed.

Lil Nas X didn’t come to play for his first Met Gala. He followed Lady Gaga’s Camp Met Gala lead with his three-part reveal at the 2021 Met Gala. I won’t lie, I gasped at each and every layer. There was a Pope-esque cape with the longest train you’ve ever seen, a gold armor suit, and, last but not least, a sequined bodysuit. Each outfit was designed by Versace, and you won’t be able to pick a favorite.

His first look was giving off major royalty vibes. The golden velvet material reflected light in a way that can only be described as opulent and featured a ton of very detailed and intricate embroidery.

Four men helped carry the “Call Me By Your Name” rapper’s massive robe, and the block design of the shoulders gives a little hint to what’s underneath.

Underneath the robe, Lil Nas X wore vibrant gold body armor with the Versace logo in the middle of the chest. This was the rapper’s second 2021 Met Gala look.

Lil Nas X wasn’t the only Met Gala attendee that was ready for battle. Singer Grimes brought a sword with her. Vintage military fashion may be on the cusp of a comeback.

For his final look, the meme-master donned an ornate, sequined bodysuit. The slightly flared pants, chunky zipper, and chain choker added a modern touch.

The sides of Lil Nas X’s jumpsuit had a mosaic feel with a circular pattern. Although gold is the overwhelming shade, the crystal and mirrors give it a tonal shift.

You could cut your finger on Lil Nas X’s ultra-sharp, winged eyeliner. Other than that, he kept his makeup to a minimum. (Not that he needed any with that super blinged-out grill.)
