Though she spent the past few decades wearing dignified matching sets, Queen Elizabeth II has had major fashion moments throughout her reign. In honor of the late monarch, here are Queen Elizabeth II’s best style moments through the years, from her days as a royal princess to her Platinum Jubilee.
At her coronation on June 2, 1953, Queen Elizabeth II was dripping in swag, including the Imperial State Crown and Orb. She also wore an ermine cape with so many glittering tassels, I genuinely don’t understand how her Majesty kept her posture so on point.
At the opening of Parliament in 1966, the queen was decked out in royal jewels. I’ll never get tired of seeing her majesty sparkle and the cost of those stones embroidered on her gown could probably cover my rent this month. Honestly, good for her (highness).
More yellow! On a state visit to Mexico in 1975, her majesty mixed pleats and polka dots for an iconic look. The matching turban, belt, and gloves created cohesion without looking overworked, and I wish I could go back in time and attend a garden party in this exact look.
At the Epsom Derby in 1987, her majesty (mostly) strayed from her usual favorite print, polka dots, in favor of an abstract, paint splatter pattern. There were also some subtle print blending going on thanks to the strips and subtle polka dots on her hat and collar.
