If you’re hoping to feel extra special on February 14 a Valentine’s Day-inspired manicure is just what the love doctor ordered. Reds, pinks, and hearts are obvious choices, but you don’t have to be basic with your color selection when thinking about your nails. With so many cool nail trends — like negative space and funky french tips — there are a plethora of ways to think out of the box with your VDay nails.

While red is an obvious Valentine’s Day choice, you can add a few more shades to the mix for something more custom. For your accent nail, a glittery silver polish will add a touch of shine to your hand. The only thing you need to nail the heart at home is a fine line brush.

You can’t go wrong knocking out VDay’s two most iconic colors. To really play the boldness of the red off your soft pink nails, a french tip moment is a graphic touch you need.

If red isn’t your thing, you can still pay homage to the holiday with a heart-filled hand. This design uses tiny white highlights to create an almost neon effect on the hearts.

For a softer approach to your red and pink polishes, you can ombré the two together. It’s actually really easy to create this effect, as you just need to gently brush the pink down to your mid nail over the red.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse for high shine, and nails with some extra sparkle and sequins will take your look to new heights.

You can also feel your goth fantasy by adding some negative-space hearts to your black nails. The negative space will brighten up your dark polish for a softer look. While some may have the steady hands and skills to pull this off, this may involve a trip to the salon.
