What Guys Need To Know About Taking Care Of Their Skin During The Winter

by Pritom Das

Having healthy, beautiful skin is a feeling like no other.

It makes you feel confident and attractive, and it also helps defend your body from harmful light rays, dirt and elements.

However, since your skin is almost always at work, much like your brain, it also requires your constant attention. The key to great skin is to take care of it any way possible.

Here is a list of things guys must do to keep their skin healthy, fresh and young:

1. Keep your skin moisturized.

Using a quality moisturizer serves as a tonic to your skin. However, not all moisturizers work equally well, and some might have an opposite effect.

To make it easy, use a quality moisturizer from a renowned brand and make sure it is made from natural ingredients.

And don't just apply it after washing your hands every time. Use it once or twice a day, and let your skin absorb it properly.

2. Avoid hot showers.

Many of you would love to take a nice hot shower in the cold winter nights, especially after coming home from a long day.

However, skin experts suggest hot water can be quite harmful to your skin. Regular exposure to hot water can strip your skin from essential oils and moisture.

Though it might not sound as inviting, try taking a lukewarm shower to keep your skin hydrated and fresh.

3. Use essential oils.

If you haven't tried out essential oils yet, now is the time.

Essential oils are composed of natural extracts and herbs that will make you smell incredible. The pleasant aroma will make you feel fresh and energetic.

Applying an essential oil to your skin before falling asleep, such as mixture with lavender, will make your skin feel renewed and relaxed.

Using essential oils can treat a plethora of skin problems, such as acne, dryness and hyperpigmentation.

Other benefits of using essential oils include stress relief and improved relaxation.

4. Stay hydrated.

When you're not drinking enough water, your skin will let you know. And when your skin is dehydrated, it will produce excess oils to make up for the lack of water.

This can lead to breakouts, dry patches and overall irritation.

Make sure you're drinking enough water throughout the day, even when it's freezing outside. You can even switch out coffee for hot tea if you can't commit to regular H20.

5. Don't shy away from red wine.

Red wine contains a ton of antioxidants called polyphenols, including resveratrol. Antioxidants have the ability to neutralize free radicals and the aging effect they can have on our skin.

Resveratrol has also been known to contain anti-aging properties, which can keep your skin looking young and firm.

So, don't feel guilty about that extra glass of wine at your holiday dinner. Your skin is going to thank you for it.
