Kate Middleton is the world’s fashion icon. Always put together and always classic, Kate’s style is frequently featured in fashion magazines and blogs everywhere, which is why I’m not surprised that a clothing line inspired by the Duchess may be in the works.
The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry has registered for a trademark for a variety of goods including clothing, footwear and headgear.
The charity was formerly called The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, but has changed its name to incorporate the new Duchess’ title. Since the inclusion of her title, the donations towards the charity have increased nearly tenfold.
The foundation wants to ensure the protection of their new name, and have been registering the name and logo in different territories around the world. A part of that process includes choosing any categories under which the foundation may conceivably operate in the future, which can protect the foundation against other people using its name illegally.
So does this mean that a Kate Middleton inspired clothing line is on the way? A spokesperson for the foundation said: “We included clothing in case we choose, for example, to make T-shirts in years to come, for marathon runners, etc.”
Dammit.
