Equal Pay May Finally Be A Thing
Equal pay amongst the sexes has yet to be enacted, surprisingly. This issue has been even more prevalent throughout the past couple of months, and now, lawmakers are finally taking notice.
The Paycheck Fairness Act, which was introduced last week by Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) and Senator Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), has been drafted in efforts to prohibit companies from punishing employees who discuss salary information.
This act would also require companies to prove that differences in salary are unrelated to gender. This is a great move, seeing as, on average, a woman only makes 82 cents for every $1.00 that a man makes.
This bill is a huge step in the right direction, and will hopefully make a huge difference.
